This is no ordinary hiking tour. To give you a deeper insight into this rare and remarkable landscape, we have specialist expert guides including an ecologist, geologist and historian, keen to share their wisdom and passion with you. Learn about the striking dolerite columns on the Tasman Peninsula from a professional geologist and see them from a different perspective on a Pennicott Wilderness boat tour. Learn the science and the magic of our ancient forests with your knowledgeable botanist as he shares his passion and years of experience.

Immerse yourself in some of the most spectacular coastlines in the Southern Hemisphere on this multi-day, pack-free hiking adventure. Walk on top of Australia’s highest sea cliffs, cruise around dramatic dolomite rock formations rising from the ocean, tread lightly through ancient rainforest, and unravel the gruelling convict history at the World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site.

Our hikes are suitable for a range of fitness levels and we only provide gourmet catering along the way. At the end of the day, you return to your comfortable Stewarts Bay Lodge accommodation and enjoy top quality breakfasts and dinners at On The Bay Restaurant.

  • Day 1: Meet your host and fellow travel companions for dinner at 6pm. 8am pickup from your hotel in the Hobart CBD. Stunning Cape Raoul clifftop hike with geologist –14km return over 6 hours – Grade 4: Bushwalking experience recommended. Meals included: packed lunch on trail, dinner at accommodation. Accommodation: Port Arthur Lodge.

    Day 2: Short walks through beautiful forests with an ecologist. Private behind-the-scenes tour of Port Arthur Historic Site. Harbour cruise around Isle of the Dead. Accommodation: Port Arthur Lodge.

    Day 3: Spectacular Cape Hauy hike with an ecologist – 9.4km return over 5 hours – Grade 3: Some bushwalking experience recommended. Dinner at local restaurant. Accommodation: Port Arthur Lodge. 01

    Day 4: 3 hour Pennicott Wilderness boat tour to Cape Pillar and Tasman Island. Delicious lunch at Bangor Vineyard Shed. Return transfer to Hobart hotel or airport.
