Visit Vancouver and Whistler

Whistler Ski Centre

Jane and Amy two of Travel with a Cause’s agents travelled to visit Vancouver and Whistler this year to experience all that Canada has to offer. Whistler is skiing town above Vancouver it takes approximately one hour and 40 minutes  by bus from Vancouver airport; it is a beautiful scenic drive through the white winter mountains. Whistler is a quaint village with fairy lights that come on in the evening a picturesque sight with snow falling makes the town feel quite romantic and cosy. The town is chalet style pedestrian village filled with restaurants, bars and retail stores. Everything you could possibly need! Whistler held the Olympic winter games in 2010 with Whistlers slopes, amazing facilities and friendly atmosphere it is obvious to why Whistler is the perfect winter destination for tourists.

Whistler is situated next to Blackcomb Mountain, with a cable car going between the two mountains there are over 200 marked runs between the two mountains- Jane and Amy endeavoured upon these slopes however not attempting any black runs.  There are many activities available at Whistler to partake in, Jane and Amy chose to go dog sledding with the opportunity to drive the sled and pat all the dogs it was a once in a lifetime opportunity and highly recommended.

After staying at Whistler Jane and Amy then travelled to visit Vancouver where they were greeted to the fast paced city with a shopping day on the high fashion Robson street and an evening going to see an Ice hockey match between the Vancouver Canuck’s and the Calgary Flames at Rodgers arena. It was an intense game with the atmosphere of the arena really drawing in the crowd.

To finish off the Vancouver experience Jane and Amy went for a tandem bike ride around Stanley Park which was voted best park in the world by Trip advisor. With beautiful views overlooking Vancouver city Stanley Park goes past Lions Gate Bridge with amazing views, of the river. There is a bike lane going all the way around the park and many bike stores near the park available for hiring bikes.

Overall Jane and Amy had an amazing experience visiting Canada and would recommend Canada to anybody interested in experiencing British Columbia. For more information about Canada/Vancouver/Whistler you are welcome to contact the team at Travel with a Cause.
