Visit to Yasawa Islands school, Village house purchase and Vinaka Volunteering Beach Cleanup funding

Our Managing Director went on a 7 night cruise of the magnificent Yasawa Islands in Fiji with Blue Lagoon Cruises.

Jane Johnston has a huge affiliation with Fiji and was delighted to be able to leave behind life straws, the filters which take out 99.9% of the bacteria and e coli in the water including cholera and typhoid.

The headmaster of the combined schools of the island of Naviti was amazed and astonished to receive these, which meant they were all able to drink out of the local well.

Jane also distributed the straws to Cyclone Josie drenched Nadi on her return and was able to buy a house in a village that had been destroyed by Cyclone Winston, for the owner who had not been able to pay the Government back since it had been mended after that deluge in 2016.

Jane has also negotiated with Vinaka Volunteering a program to include beach clean ups of the plastics that appear on the beaches in the Yaswas. This is being implemented by a start up fund given by TWAC to Vinaka Volunteering.
