Day 1 Fly to Manila, Philipphines
Aim to arrive lunchtime/ early afternoon at Manila Airport and we will
pick you up and shuttle to our location. Short briefing and after dinner
you can head out to Manila nightclubs if you're game!
Day 2 Slum Feeding, Chill and Optional Intramuros
After brekky, we head to Zone 3 to participate in MZCF slum feeding
and see the infectious smiles of the locals.
We head to Intramuros for lunch. Option 1 For history buffs, a guided
tour through Spanish walled city to understand Jose Rizal’s struggle
to liberate his people from 333 years of Spanish rule. If history bores
you to tears, you can chill in the bar or visit chaotic Divisoria Mall in
nearby china town.
Night you are free to chill or go out again to Manila nightclubs.
Day 3 Start Bayani Challenge
We take air conditioned van to our Gawad Kalinga (GK) Village and
start our Bayani Challenge. GK is an incredible organisation working
in 3000 communities with a goal to lift 5 million Filipinos out of
poverty by 2024. “Bayani” means Hero in the Filipino language
Tagalog.
The challenge involves volunteering in local barangays via school
painting, mangrove planting and feeding programs. Morning is split
group activity of "Kusinang kalinga" - preparation of food and
serving in barangays, schools or Heroes Home Build project.
Evening is a long table boodle fight dinner you will never forget!
Day 4 Bayani Challenge and Zipline Taal Volcano
We continue our Bayani Challenge in the morning.
After lunch, we travel to Tagaytay with stunning views of Taal
Volcano plus if you have the courage, try a Zipline.
Day 5 Fly to Leyte, Chill and City Views
We take a morning flight to Leyte and time to chill around Tacloban
city, get a massage, shop or walk to the water.
Evening is a non Filipino meal for once, and a surprise dessert that is
mouth watering with city views.
Day 6 Incredible Sohoton Caves and Natural Bridge
Amazing ecotourism experience as we drive over the San Juanico
Bridge on the way to Sohoton Caves.This community tourism was
developed after Hurricane Yolanda with a boat ride to the caves. A 1
hour guided tour through the spectacular caves is followed by a
delicious healthy lunch. A canoe ride upstream to the jaw dropping
natural bridge where you can experience the stunning beauty and
swim.
On the way home we stop by Eva Jocelyn Shrine -ground zero for
devastating Hurricane Yolanda.
Day 7 Ormoc and Sabin Hotel
We take our van to Ormoc, travelling through rice field sand stop at
Sabin Hotel which has an awesome pool.
Spend the afternoon chilling in the pool.
Day 8 Rest Day and Local Markets
Today is a day to just relax, kick back and do whatever you like. You
can visit local Ormoc markets near the port.
There is also potential to explore visiting GK Village and doing some
volunteering.
Day 9 Water Falls and Journey to Whale Shark
At 10am we leave for Peters Resort and stop for a refreshing swim at
waterfalls along the way.
Day 10 Whale Shark Adventure
Whale sharks are majestic creatures and we will get in the water to
see their beauty up close! In the rare event we don't see them we will
also do some snorkeling and island hopping.
Evening Chill at Peter's Resort
Day 11 Hindang Monkey Cave and Back to Ormoc
Fresh from our whale shark high, we go back to Ormoc. Along the
way we stop at Hindang Monkey Cave, these monkeys are crazy!
Evening chill at Sabin Hotel or equivalent.
Day 12 Kalanggaman The Pride of Leyte
1 hour to Palompon for what can only be described as heaven on
earth. Crystal blue water and white powdery sand. A 1 hour pump
boat ride takes us to the desert island of Kalanggaman where you
can swim, snorkel, sun-bake banana boat.
After a trip to the local markets, we head back to Tacloban, with sun
tans and smiles on our faces.
Chill and relaxed night.
Day 13 Fly to Manila for our journey home
Your incredible Schoolies Adventure is coming to an end. After a
good sleep in we check out for flight back to Manila.
